Ella's end of the school year

Ella's been a busy little girl too! She's taken dance class all year and had a few performances in April and May. She did very good and was adorable!
She was also a preschool graduate!! Her teacher thought she was absolutely amazing and may have some genius genes! She's one to keep an eye on!!

I can't believe my Ella's going to kindergarten next year! She's very excited. She knew she was going to have kindergarten shots and was VERY scared about them. One day she said, "Mom, can we just my shots today so I can stop worrying about them?" So we did just that! She wasn't quite as mature getting the shots, but she got a special Hello Kitty doll from the mall when we were done! Lucky girl!

End of the school year for Emily

As everyone knows, the end of the school year is a busy time for everyone. Emily sure had a terrific 1st grade year, and it's mostly because she had such a terrific teacher. Here she is with Mrs. Fox.
On the last day of school, her class put on a reader's theater for the parents. Emily got to open the play by saying, "Welcome to our play, April to May!!" She got that part, her teacher said, because she has the most expressive reading voice in the class! That was also her award that her teacher gave her!Their school also puts on a dance festival. This year they had a patriotic theme and the 1st grades did their dance to "Take your hat off when the flag goes by."

Emily also finished up her drama class. They performed "The Wonderful Witches of Oz" and Emily was a munchkin. They sure did a cute job and the play was pretty creative. At the end, they are all awarded with Oscars.

The 1st grade also had an author's tea. Grandma was able to attend with us. Emily had two finished books to read to us. One was a fiction story called, "Getting stuck" about her school friends. The other was a "nonficin, fichin" story called, "My Cat, Jesi." That book is hilarious. Here's the text.
"My cat was nice, her name was Jesi. One night Jesi ran away. A big truck almost ran over my cat. The truck stopped. And kept the cat! The next day we started to cry. My mom said, No more Pets!! We said, "ok mom." We were mad because we wanted another cat."
Nice how that cat is memorialized and I'm the bad guy. :)

Catch-up

Summer break has finally begun!! I have a lot of to-do goals for myself, including getting caught up on blogs, scrapbooks, and home movies. I think I'll do a little catch up everyday.

We were glad to have Grandma and Grandpa move to Lindon in April. We been waiting for grandpa to finally retire and for their house to sell for forever!! It sure was fun to have them nearby...for a little while. They received their mission call to the North Asian mission area to serve as mental health adviser and assistant. We sure had a lot of family get togethers before they left. We were also very happy to attend a temple session with most of the family members before they left.
We sure miss them now, but actually hear more from them now than ever before! My mom is able to blog quite frequently and they are allowed to skype us via the computer or phone! So they don't feel quite so far away.

Positive peer pressure

Ok, I'm getting to the point in my life where I need to set a better example for my ever-observing girls. However, this Sunday it was them setting the good example. It was fast Sunday and they just about bounced out of their seat with excitement when they realized it. Emily was quick to go up and bear her testimony. Ella went up shortly thereafter. A few minutes later Steve trooped up there, not to be outdone by his girls. Then Emily sat there prodding me to bear my testimony until I finally got up and did it. It's really hard to believe that Emily will be baptized in 9 months. She's already so excited and already knows so much. It's a good thing Heavenly Father sent me such wonderful girls.
