April 2012

Wow, back to April - lots has happened and lots has changed since then!  April started with a drastic new look for Ella! She was waiting for her turn with her class' traveling fox to donate her hair!  Unfortunately I didn't think she'd get it so soon!  I was pretty sure her hair wasn't long enough to donate and still look good, but I took her to the salon anyway.  I figured she'd believe the stylist more than me!  Here we are at Cookie Cutters (a special treat).  The stylist gave me an idea I hadn't thought of, she could just cut the back middle section to the required length and the front we could leave longer for an A-line look.

It turned out PERFECT and she looked ADORABLE!  I'm so proud of her for working so hard to grow out her hair and then donate it.
I got to go on another field trip - this time with Emily's class.  Funny how much less stressed out 3rd grade teachers are than 1st grade teachers!  We went to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens and the Dinosaur museum.  Emily and Elsie were partners.
Our group had a few extra minutes, so we got to play on this atom-looking structure.
Always have to get a picture with the giant shark at the Dinosaur Museum!
Easter activities!  We decided to go to the Highland hunt, since I couldn't find anything online about AF.  It was much smaller and much nicer!  They had different sections for different ages.  Luckily Emily is old enough to go off by herself since our kids outnumber us!  Eden had a hard time with the whole "hurry and grab an egg" thing.  By the time I got her to an egg, she was so stressed out that she wouldn't pick it up!  As she was having a crying fit later about only getting that one egg, an nice family walking by hid one in a nearby tree for her.  I liked that they announced a 5 egg maximum, but nobody obeyed it!  However, they were smart - there was no candy in the eggs, you just turned in your eggs for a bag of candy.  BRILLIANT!

 They also had cookie decorating.
And a visiting Easter Bunny - who must have had a VERY hard time seeing because we must have stood by him for a good 10 minutes before he handed us candy - kept giving it to everyone else!
And we had a fun egg hunt at G&Gs house!  Not sure how much the kids liked my "scratch and win" prizes instead of candy, but I had fun making them!
On the last day of Spring break, we had lunch with daddy at a nearby park.  Somehow we convinced him to ditch the last half of the day and go to SLC with us!  We visited the beautiful new City Creek center and threw pennies into City Creek.
We stopped and got some pictures by the tulips before it started raining.

We even got a tour of the Church office building while we were there.  (Yes, Eden is having ANOTHER tantrum!)
"I love to see the Temple!"
We were so proud of Braydon and Mason for choosing to be baptized.  Somehow I only got a quick pic of Braydon, but Mason looked cute too!
I bought this bunny mask for Eden after Easter and she wore it the entire day!  Even when we went to the school's night at Classic Skating.  Eden LOVED that you could ride a tricycle!
The girls mostly rode their scooters, but Ella did try out our training skates for awhile!
They also have a bounce house section and the girls convinced me to buy them tickets to do that too!
Grandma and I went to Ella's author's tea.  She was very proud of her 3 stories!  One was about Grandma and Grandpa!
Grandma, Natalia and us went to an expo and got a picture in the carriage!
Field trip #3 for me was taking the 1st grade to the zoo!  Ella thought I was the BEST mom, because I brought a bus game.  I brought zoo animal flash cards and a roll of masking tape and we taped them to our foreheads and played guess what animal I am.  It started out with just the group I was over, then ended up by passing cards and tape to the kids in the very back of the bus!  I was surprised that the game lasted as long as it did.  They even begged to start playing the second we got back on the bus after the zoo!  Ella's teacher wrote me a thank you note and said that is a new zoo bus tradition for the 1st graders!
I had a great group of kids and we saw as much as we could.  I loved how the giraffes hug!
We sat down on a bench to eat our sack lunches and this peacock would not leave us alone.  It scared Ella half to death the entire lunch!  He had the loudest call and kept creeping closer trying to steal our food!

School carnival day.  Ella got her hair sprayed pink.
The kids got to use their reading minutes to throw pies at the teachers!

The cow train was free - I think we rode it about 15 times straight!  Not sure why there wasn't a line, but it was a FREEZING night!

Ella did wait in line for about an hour to climb this thing!
Gymnastic award ceremony.  The girls were in gymnastics most of the year.  They did a cute show and ceremony at the end.

The girls were both excited to get "first place" medals!

Grandma STILL had some Japanese souvenirs to give us!
Easter egg painting!  I usually go a bit overboard buying eggs every year!  But we have a nice long painting session!  And we ended up with about a dozen broken eggs for the next day's breakfast.
Keeping up the the Gibson tradition - the Rainbow of Colors - dumping all the dye at once!
 Our finished unbroken eggs!
 Holding their favorites!
 Emily found her basket!
Ella's still looking through the tangle of yarn!
 Found it!
She got a weasel doll she fell in love with at the Children's museum.
They all got new Easter Eve PJs.  Thought it might be a fun new tradition since they get a lot of pictures in them!  Ella and Eden LOVE their matching Hello Kitty PJs.
Love the hair in this picture - shows with how much gusto she hunts for eggs!
Ella loved her new Hello Kitty hat and she looked so cute in it with her short hair!
And Ella lunges for her eggs!
Posing in their new Easter dresses!  I searched high and low for these!  Never did find any with sleeves, but they were good to wear their sweaters.  They each picked out their own dresses and they absolutely loved trying them on in the stores!

Mom and Dad had their Welcome Home talks and a lunch afterwords.  Couldn't believe how many people came!  It was a packed house!  Everytime I see these pics of Rissy, it makes me laugh!  I think she really loves chocolate covered strawberries!

The kids had a dancing party!

Ella shows off the clean house!
Mom loved the RuBarb bouquet I made for them!
 Cute cousins outside.
 The Gibson Family!
 Awwwww...

We sang to mom for her birthday,
then mom added her own ending...
and dad finished it off with gusto!

So much has happened since then! The pictures bring back all the memories. You do so much with the children and for others. We have missed your blogs. Now on to May! You must show me how to download all the pictures at once!!!!!

I don't think we're using the "New Blogger" quite right. There is usually a long stream of profanity coming from the office while Kellie is posting her blogs.

8 DOZEN EGGS??! We do four (one for each kid) and it takes forever! You are indeed brave.

Looks like some fun activities for some cute kids.

Jill says: Here's proof that your kids are having a great childhood. You can use this as evidence when they are teenagers and telling you otherwise! Great pictures and great parents!

I love all these pics! I thought I commented before, but I must have not posted it. Ella is absolutely adorable with her new Diva hairdo and I think that is great that she donated it! The Easter activities look fun and also the fun family visit to City Creek Center! You guys sure know how to have fun! Thanks for sharing the pics of Braydon and Rissy too- they made my day! Keep up the great work as an awesome Supermom!
