Seeing as it's mid-October when I'm finally posting these - I'll have to use the pictures as my memories for the month.
| I was busy with the youth all summer. We like to keep them out of trouble! We started the month with Youth Conference. Since the stake was in charge, leaders just had to show up. Here I was hiking to the This is the Place monument in SLC. It was a short hike, but very steep. It was hard to imagine that Brigham Young with his cane had also made that climb. A member of the stake presidency gave a talk at the top and we each received a rubber bracelet to remember the theme. |
| Our little chickens continued growing. They weren't quite as cute in the adolescent stage, but we still enjoyed them. However, as they grew, they learned they could roost on the edges of the box. Of course, I didn't like that as you can see the location of their tails over my kitchen floor! |
| So Steve kept working away at the chicken coop. All from a picture I printed off the internet. What a swell guy! |
| The chickens got their fair share of playtime. The girls like to put them on the playground ladder |
| Summer marks the beginning of endless playtime! Ella found this horse at a garage sale and she talked them down to $5. That was hard to say no to. It sure was fun...for awhile! |
| We loved our membership at the rec center. Lots of swimming. Eden is a regular mermaid in the water. The girls each took one session of lessons. Of course, Ella got sick and had to miss a few days! |
| Eden's first time in the salon! Of course, mama wouldn't let her get much cut off, but it sure looked nicer when it was done. |
| Our neighbor had a shaving cream party! So fun - well, until it gets in your eyes. Next time we'll be prepared with swimsuits, towel, and goggles. |
| Getting the roof on! |
| I even helped by laying the parquet flooring. I figured that would be much easier to clean than bare wood. |
| Trying out their new home - it seemed huge! Now it seems small. |
| Ella found the pink bed canopy (below) at a yard sale, so I dug one out for Eden too. They thought they were pretty special sleeping like princesses! |
| The girls can get pretty creative on Sunday mornings when they aren't allowed to use electronics. Here are their newspaper bag puppets! |
| Oh dear, is it really that time of year again? Summer camps took the bulk of my June. I was blessed and completely filled two fairy camps and one pirate camp. |
| Eden got to participate this year. Here they are adopting their fairy bears. We had a good week. |
| And summer means sister sleepovers! |
| I got a large cardboard box and used Steve's first attempt at the chicken run to quickly piece together a pirate ship. Now too bad considering I did this in the dark the night before camp! |
| The coop nearing completion! |
| She's a girl through and through! |
| So's Ella! Always loves any sort of craft! |
| My sweetheart, always showing his love. It says I (heart) Kim in the cement he poured for the chicken run. |
| This one has his name and 2012. |
| We got summer passes to Classic skating. It was a great way to get exersize and beat the heat. |
| All too soon, the chickens learned how to escape. |
| Luckily they were almost big enough to go outside. |
| We made the trek to the Manti pageant this year. |
| We got their pretty early. I was hoping there'd be some activities, but instead we walked to an ice cream shop. |
| As soon as camps ended, our new project was emptying our toy/storage room and turning it into a 2nd bedroom for the girls. As we went through the dressups deciding what to get rid of, Eden had a great time dressing up! |
| The girls were very helpful emptying the room, being willing to get rid of things and cleaning the room. |
| Of course, this is how the preschool room looked for a couple months while we cleaned, painted, moved and sorted! |
Stay tuned for July Asp family happenings!

Great pictures and updates! I know what your final room project looks like now. I think it was worth the effort!
Never a dull moment in that home. I'm very impressed by the chicken coop. Quality workmanship there. We'll have to get a closer look sometime.
The picture of the Manti temple is gorgeous! Steve did a great job on the chicken coop and I'm glad the girls love them as their pets. I am always amazed at how much you get done around the house too. Karyssa loved looking at the pictures with me and said she wishes her mommy would get her a bunk bed with a princess canopy! :) You are great parents to those three little princesses!
