Water woes!

I'm fed up with all the water problems we've been having lately! It all started a month or so ago when our dishwasher would leak occasionally. That caused our new-ish laminate flooring to warp and some squeaks developed.

Then a couple of weeks ago Steve used the water filter to fill the humidifier and a tube popped off the undersink unit and leaked through to the laundry room downstairs. Unfortunately we didn't hear it "raining" in the laundry room till we went downstairs much later. So now we have sagging drywall and I had to clean the whole room, including tossing a bunch of my soggy preschool materials!

Then a couple of days ago the water line to our fridge water started leaking. It completely soaked the laminate flooring in that area and I still see it seeping through the boards when I step on it!! The whole sink area of our kitchen now has warped boards and some have gaps between them. It looks terrible, but I don't know what to do about it. I don't think it's worth paying our $500 insurance deductable. And I'm not sure I want to replace the boards because it may just happen again. And I don't think I want to replace the whole floor because of expense! We just got this floor and I've got a lot of other ways I like to spend my imaginary money. Sometimes I wish we were just renting - then it would be someone else's problem.

What a pain. Guess it's time to move (Dan would want me to say that). I eventually want new flooring but maybe I should consider tile instead. Hope you can get it fixed.

Oh, the joys of home ownership. There is always something that needs fixing. Water can be wicked!

So sorry! I wouldn't even know where to start with fixing that kind of a mess. I wish that imaginary money could actually be used! Do you have a tax refund coming? Maybe you can make yourselves an Elders Quorum or YM service project somehow.

I'm so sorry. I remember our big flood a year ago and how frustrated I was that our laminate was ruined. But here's a thought- if you just pay the $500 deductible (as annoying as it is though), the homeowner's insurance can pay for BRAND NEW flooring for you, plus the labor to replace it. You will probably save a lot of money that way. Only one section of our flooring was ruined, but because we could prove that they didn't sell that exact style and model number of the laminate flooring from 3 years ago, they paid for our entire floor to be replaced, and then paid a check DUSTIN to replace it- instead of them hiring someone else. It ended up being a blessing in disguise, since we would have had to replace it anyway. So maybe that is an option? Good luck!
