We enjoyed General Conference last week. Emily made a conference booklet with the activity days girls and really enjoyed filling it out - for the 1st session. I thought that was great, though. She listened for the words on her list and got a specific colored Skittle each time. Ella mostly listened for the words, "My Sims" again (see previous post.) We were excited to hear Uncle Larry get called to the Young Men General Presidency. I had a feeling I was going to hear his name during the sustainings, so I was listening extra careful. I was able to pay attention really good on Saturday because Eden wanted to be held the whole time. On Sunday, it was a little harder because she slept through it and I was trying to do crafts while listening - it never works. It was crazy having snowy weather during conference - usually we're enjoying nice spring weather.
E&E love to play "Beauty Shop" with me - here we are between conference sessions.
Emily had another soccer game and got to be goalie for awhile. She managed to stop the ball once - and let it get right through her legs twice!! She also spends most of her time on the ground or dancing around. It was fun to watch!

Emily has stopped enjoying school so much. Remember when she used to cry on Saturdays and holidays? Now she anticipates those days. She also used to LOVE the bus - now she wants me to pick her up from school because it's too loud. Makes me sad. I hope it's just spring fever. She recently made a decorated egg for a school contest and won best designed egg. I didn't get a picture of it, because I expected her to bring it home afterschool. Now it's sitting in a glass case right inside the school entrance. I'm proud of her, but I hope to get it back soon because she used my banana stand as part of it! Basically it was a plastic egg decorated to look like a chick sitting in a egg carton portion. The carton was tied to the banana stand "branch" with ribbon to look like it what hanging - "Rock a Bye Birdie." Anyway, she did most of it herself and it did look cute - I'll get a picture when she brings it back.
Emily sure is enjoying reading and writing though. She also likes to figure out addition problems. I've stocked our coffee table drawer with paper, pens, markers, stickers and both girls enjoy writing stories and coloring pictures.
We had fun decorating eggs for FHE last week. They enjoyed painting them even more than dipping them.
Preschool is going well, but I'm excited for spring break as well! Here's a cute pic of Ella at preschool.
Steve and I have had the A/C bug lately. (We've always got some sort of bug, don't we?) So we've had 3 contractors come do bids for us. The first two were the "big guys" and had astronomical bids. But we used their information to get some phone bids and we've gotten 2 more appointments from some more reasonable companies. One guy seems to have a good deal and is willing to throw in some freebies. We're trying to do our homework so we get a good deal, but don't get shoddy workmanship or a rip-off. Any advice? We've also been busy changing insurance, buying preschool insurance, figuring out hospital bills, home improvement projects, etc.
Eden will be 3 months soon! At her 2 month appointment, she was in the 90th percentile for weight, 95th for height and 50th for head circumference! She is such a good baby. She's slept through the night several times lately. She LOVES her swing and it was worth every dollar I spent. Poor thing has her first cold, though. She has a hard time breathing, so she's been up more at night. I've been a sucker and have brought her into bed lately, so now I'm suffering with back pains. (Somehow she always finds her way right next to me and I end up with a few inches of bed space.)
Speaking of pains, Steve's had bad neck and shoulder pain for the last 3 weeks. We finally got a prescription for him, but the side effects were worse, so he stopped taking it. I guess we need to get him into a chiropractor. He hasn't been able to hold Eden as much, so I've gotten a lot of bonding time with her!
The Easter egg hunt yesterday was cold and rainy. Both girls managed to get 2-3 pieces of candy during the mad dash they call a hunt. They both were so excited for the Easter bunny to come - in fact we let them get up at 6:20, since we figured there was no point in laying awake for another 40 minutes! They followed their string and found all the eggs before 7:00! Ella got a Cinderella dress and Emily got another Sims game - My Sims Kingdom. She's had a hard time not being able to play it this morning! Eden was oblivious, but I figure next year she'll get into it.
(Ella was terrified of the EB!)
Here's the cake I made for Braydon. Don't know why, but this one was harder for me. I think I had to rush a bit because I found out Dustin was going to be able to come up to do the flooring when I was planning on doing it. So I spent all Friday night doing it, but wasn't able to have time to freeze the frosting layers. But it was cute enough, I just decided I'm not very good at piping. I need to take the cake decorating class I wanted to take last summer.
Easter morning...

Wow! Sounds like a fun Easter week. It was so cute to see Emily playing soccer. I've never been able to get my girls interested in sports. Anyway, thanks for another peek into the Asp household.
Such fun to see what you have been up to - and it is a lot! I don't know how you do everything. The girls looked so cute and so did you and Steve. Guess Eden was sleeping.
I loved the cake! It was so well done - you do a great job. I know Braydon loved it. Any plans for Ella's birthday?
So did you get the floor done? And what did you en up doing for the Actity girls - the egg stand or the eggs?
Emily, you are doing well with soccer. You are really helping the team!

Okay, at least we know that Emily got some of her soccer talent from her Aunt Jill. You know that clip with the ball going right through her legs -- you can thank me for that! After all I was on the infamous soccer team that never won any games. --Even after the coaches promised us ice cream if we won! Heck, why waste the money and the calories!!! So, go Emily and keep letting those Jill genes shine!!!
