Spring Break Day 1

We're off to a good start. I was anxious to get to the stores to do some after-Easter sales. There wasn't anything really good, so luckily I saved some money that way! The girls were really good, but Eden was ready for her nap by the time we got home. That was perfect timing, because the older girls and I were able to get all our seeds planted during that time. We just sat in the garage and planted all our seeds in egg cartons. I've never done it that way before, but I did research it a bit online and hopefully it will work out for us. I didn't have anyplace to put the 11 cartons when we were done, so we put them inside plastic containers and just left them near a wind0w in the garage. Hopefully it's not too cold what with all the SNOW this week already! Well, the important part is that the girls and I had a great time working together. Emily recently read a book called the Friendship Garden and thought we should call it the Family Garden. Then Ella piped up, "Why don't we call it the Garden of Eden?" :) Perfect!

Ella's been begging to buy birdseed lately. She even made her own shopping list one day and spelled it out herself. (She's actually getting really good at listening to the sounds and spelling out words now.) So we finally got some yesterday and filled up our birdfeeder when we finished planting. They keep looking out the window to see if any birds have come yet.

After lunch we all got some resting/TV time in. Then the girls played nicely while I got some cleaning done. They were very anxious to go see Grandma and Grandpa that evening. They were very nice to watch the girls while we finally got our taxes done. Usually our accountant comes to our house, but this year he's in a wheelchair so we got to go see his HUGE house. Hmmm, maybe Steve should get his CPA?? We're glad to be getting a nice Federal rebate (the furnace rebate and new child is nice!), but are surprised we have to pay State tax. That's a first for us. Boo.

Well, we better start Day 2 now. Too bad there's more snow on the ground this morning!
